Faith Story

by David

Like many others I think of Zion as my church family, where I am blessed with the fellowship and support of other Christians.

But I also experience something more here. In conversations that take place at Zion, it’s not uncommon to hear people say, “We had a lot of fun.” or “It was great working together with others!” or “You’ll have to do it next time.”

There are many opportunities to be involved in projects and activities that help those who are less fortunate than we are—whether it’s walking in Relay For Life, helping raise funds for disaster victims, or serving meals to the needy.

As a member of Zion Lutheran I am truly blessed to be a servant of God.

What we do

The worship life of the congregation does not end when the last hymn is sung, but continues on by giving God thanks and praise in actions that help heal the effects of sin in the world. This continuing worship is expressed in congregational support, both financial and material, to the alleviation of hunger locally and worldwide, to Lutheran social ministry organizations, to disaster relief projects, and to local homeless housing groups.

Structured opportunities are provided through youth service projects, friendly visitors, women’s organization, and prayer.

Youth service projects

We encourage youth to work on service projects. Read all about it at Youth.

Friend-to-friend

These small teams carry out a ministry of visitation to the sick and shut-ins. The friend-to-friend visitors provide regular contact and support to those members of our congregation who are unable to fully participate because of illness or otherwise have difficulty getting out. This personal contact shares God’s love with those who often times need it most, and it assures these people that they are also loved and cared for by members of the congregation.

ZWELCA

Zion’s Women of the ELCA is a multifaceted organization that affirms, supports, and challenges women in their daily ministries. In addition to the service work that the group undertakes, the women of ZWELCA engage in Bible study, participate in various synod-wide gatherings, and support one another in their callings.

Prayer chain

The Prayer Chain is a group of committed members who engage in the ministry of prayer. Through these individuals we support one another by praying for those who request and need prayers.
